NADS “A Star is Born” Fashion Show
We had the pleasure of joining the 500+ people in attendance at the National Association for Down Syndrome’s ‘A Star is Born’ Fashion show in Rosemont on Sunday. Our Executive Director, Anne Marie Brown, spoke and shared Amina’s story, how the Amina Grace Memorial Fund was created, and the importance of the NADS Hospital and Congratulations Basket program, which we recently began supporting. This program is so important to set the tone for new families that their child is a gift and should be celebrated!
Stacey Baca from ABC7 News was the wonderful emcee for the day as more than 40 models walked the stage with confidence and grace, each showing off their own style and personality.
Guests enjoyed a performance by the Center Stage Dance Studio dancers and then Garrett and Orion from Edge of Orion. Garrett is one of 6 performers with Down syndrome who star in “No Easy Target”, a “Star Wars” themed short film, which is making a name for itself at film festivals internationally.
The show closed with a 16 year old model, Liam, who wants to be an Elvis Tribute artist. He sang “I Can’t Help Falling in Love” and brought the house down.
Our hearts are full!
